Adorn with Acorns This Season

Adorn with Acorns This Season

The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

Yep, things can get pretty nutty this time of year. And we’re not just talking about the kids or crazy cousin Ned. With the wind a’bustlin and trees a’rustlin, the earth is abun- dant with acorns, turning your driveway into the setting of a slapstick comedy starring anybody who steps onto it.

This does not, we repeat, this does NOT mean the sky is falling. What it DOES mean is that your mantle is going to be adorned with acorn art this season! These simple DIY acorn crafts prove that creativity truly does grow on trees:

Finally - a family even nuttier than yours! Your kids will entertain everyone (and most importantly, themselves) putting on puppet shows with these mini acorn buddies via Learn with Play at Home. And if their nutty little noggins get cold, add the caps as hats!

Andy Warhol once said “land really is the best art.” Well, something tells us that Andy would give this super simple, super sleek acorn shadow box via Mod Podge Rocks two thumbs WAY up. Use bright, bold paint to add pops of pizzaz around the house. Kids can use any colors they choose in any patterns they please, becoming the curators of their very own acorn art gallery!

We think using nature to make something else found in nature is an awesome idea! These acorn toadstools from Twig and Toadstool are all fun, no fungus. Idea: paint faces on them to make magical mushroom men, or windows and doors for a miniature mushroom village. Papa Smurf approved!

The writing’s on the wall. This recycled paper acorn banner via Crafting a Green World heralds in the holidays in a whole new way! Whether you use last year’s school books or yesterday’s newspaper, it’s a clever way to declutter AND decorate, all in time for the holiday hullabaloo!

We think the acorn owls from Honest to Nod are an absolute hoot! These nocturnal nuts are easy to make and will look precious keeping the nightwatch from your mantle. They might even tell you who’s been midnight munching on the macaroni and cheese...

Not only can acorns BE art, they can also MAKE art. These stamping acorn caps via My Nearest and Dearest can be used to decorate every surface in the house. Think: place- mats, napkins, hand towels, holiday cards... go out on a limb! The trees are no longer the limit for these acorns.

Got leftover wool, but not enough to make much of anything? Before committing to that pint-size pair of pants for Elf on the Shelf, take these yarn acorns via Classy Clutter for a spin! They’ll add a splash of spunk sprinkled across your mantle and keep little hands busy.

And whether you hang it on a door or display it on a wall, we think this acorn wreath from My Brooklyn Baby is the perfect way to welcome friends, family, and Fall into your home :)
