Instructions

  1. To create feet for the tray, drill a hole in each 1” block from one corner to the opposite corner. Decide where you want the feet on the tray and screw the blocks onto the bottom of the plaque, using the four, number 8, 2” screws. Take feet off to paint and reattach feet after tray is done.
  2. Basecoat the surface of the plaque and wood block squares using the Warm White and Linen Folk Art. Use a flat artist bristle brush to apply the paint, stroke the paint on the surface along the flat surface, stroking in long smooth strokes. This will create an aged white effect to the look of the paint. Allow to dry, lightly sand then paint a second coat follow the same stroking procedure.
  3. Wash and dry glass before painting. Use pattern to cut your own stencil to create the snowflake. Stencil the snowflake onto the glass with Metallic Sterling Silver and Wicker White Enamels. Refer to the photo for placement and color arrangement on the snowflake designs.
  4. Stencil the snowflake onto the plaque with Metallic Sterling Silver and Wicker White FolkArt Acrylics. Refer to the photo for placement and color arrangement on the snowflake designs. Use center of stencil on sides of blocks.
  5. Use Silver Sterling acrylic to paint a silver line along the top edge and bottom edge of the routed area of the tray shape. Use handle of paint brush and Silver Sterling to add dots along the edge of the tray. Allow to dry completely.
  6. Turn plaque over and screw the block feet onto the bottom of the tray. Attach eye screws to the bottom inside edge of the tray, approximately 1” apart, ¼” in from the edge. Make sure the screw eyes are evenly placed depending on the size or amount of snowflakes that you have.
  7. Air dry glass for twenty-one days before use. 8. Place the glass painted side down onto the tray. The tray is now safe for food.
