1/4 " angled brush, 1/2" angled brush, #6 round brush, 10/0 liner brush, 1/4" flat brush, 1/2" flat brush, 8" x 8" canvas, Blue transfer paper, Tracing paper, Pencil
Instructions
Trace "Pattern Number 1" and "Pattern Number 2" on to tracing paper.
Transfer "Pattern number 1" to the 8" x 8" canvas using the Chaco transfer paper.
Using the 1/2" flat brush, paint the outer border of the pattern that you have transferred to your canvas with Titanium White. Float the outer edge of this border with Yellow Ochre and a small amount of Blending Gel using the 1/2" angled brush. Let dry.
Paint the upper middle and lower middle triangle with a 50/50 mix of blending gel and Citrus Green using the #6 round brush. The blending gel will give the paint a transparent look. Let dry. Paint the vertical stripes in these sections with Citrus Green using the 1/4" flat brush. Let Dry.
Paint the triangles on the left and right with a 50/50 mix of Blending Gel and Grass Green using the #6 round brush. Let Dry. Paint the round circles in these triangles with a mix of Grass Green mixed with just a touch of Blending Gel using the #6 round brush. Let dry.
Using the liner brush paint the diagonal lines that cross from corner to corner with Grass Green mixed with a tiny bit of water to thin the paint. Let dry.
Transfer "Pattern Number 2" over the area you have already painted. Basecoat the bird, flowers and leaves with Titanium White using the #6 round brush. Let dry. Basecoat the bird & flowers again, this time with Lemon Custard using the #6 round brush. Float the top of the bird's head and the outer tips of the flower petals with Titanium White and a tiny bit of Blending Gel using the 1/4" angled brush. Using the 1/4" angled brush float a little Lemon Custard on the outer edge of the bird's stomach, the bird's tail and near the centers of the flowers. Let dry. Float the bottom tip of the bird's tail and the lower part of the stomach with Yellow Ochre using the 1/4" angled brush. Paint the bird's beak and legs Yellow Ochre using the 10/0 liner brush. Paint the bird's wing with Yellow Ochre using the #6 round brush. Float the top of the bird's wing using Lemon Custard and a small amount of Blending Gel. Let dry.
Outline the bird and paint the dots/swirls on bird using Yellow Ochre with the 10/0 liner brush. Outline the wing with a 50/50 mix of Yellow Ochre and Teddy Bear Brown. Paint the bird's eye Teddy Bear Brown. Outline the flowers & paint the dots on the flowers with Yellow Ochre using the 10/0 liner brush.
Paint the tree branch with Yellow Ochre using the #6 round brush. Paint a thin line along the top edge of the branch with Lemon Custard using the 10/0 liner brush.
Basecoat the leaves with Grass Green using the #6 round brush. Float the inner tips of the leaves (closest to the flower) with Hauser Green & Blending Gel using the 1/4" angled brush. Outline the leaves, paint the swirly designs around the border edge using the 10/0 liner brush.
Spray the entire piece with a light coat of Matte Finish Spray. Let dry.
Paint the leaves with two coats of Extreme Glitter Peridot using the #6 round brush. Paint the bird's wing with two coats of Extreme Glitter using the #6 round brush.
