Other Supplies

Three (3) pieces of 24" x 14" of linen fabric, Three (3) 24" x 14" solid cotton fabric in Teal; Purple; and Light purple, Ruler, Pencil, Tracing Paper, Stencil brush, Paper towel, Bowl of water, Straight pins, Scissors, Needle and thread, Polyfil stuffing

Instructions

  1. Lay one piece of the cut linen on a protected surface and tape down around all of the edges. Pull tightly as you go to ensure a smooth surface.
  2. Measure the fabric and mark the 12” center point lightly with a pencil. Lightly mark a baseline for your 5” letters.
  3. Using the stencils, trace inside each letter of the word on a piece of tracing paper. Fold in half to find the center point. You will use this as your guide in placing the stencils on your fabric.
  4. Referring to the center point and the baseline on your fabric, align the tracing paper over the fabric. Tape in place along the top or bottom. You will lift the tracing up, place your stencil and lay the paper back down and adjust your letter accordingly. Lift up the tracing.
  5. Stencil paint each letter. Load your stencil brush and then off load paint onto a paper towel to ensure a clean stencil application. Stencil “HUGS” in Lemon Lime, “KISS” in Peacock and “LOVE” in Crocus. Let dry completely.
  6. Lay each stenciled word face down on the three coordinating cotton fabrics. “HUGS” onto teal fabric, “KISS” onto light purple fabric, and “LOVE” onto purple fabric. Pin in place.
  7. Sew a simple running stitch with a ¼” edge all around the fabric. Leave an opening to insert the stuffing.
  8. Turn the fabric inside out, press with an iron. Fill with stuffing. Hand-stitch the opening closed.
