Other Supplies

1-½” paper mache pumpkin, 2-½” STYROFOAM™ ball, 1” black Pom-Pom, 2 small red beads for eyes, 2 small wiggle eyes, 2 crystal faceted beads for eyes, 3-½” piece of a Black boa, 1 wood bead ½” diameter, Hot glue gun, 25 lengths of 26 gauge floral wire, Scissors, Ruler, Needle-nose pliers with wire cutter, Flat paintbrush

Instructions


Fussy Spider with Red Eyes:

  1. Pull stem out of pumpkin and discard. Paint pumpkin Licorice. Let dry.
  2. Paint pumpkin with Black Extreme Glitter. Let dry.
  3. Measure wire and cut 4 pieces 9” long. Bend them all in half. Push all four bent wires up through the middle of the spider body until loops come out the top. Secure the end of another wire cut 4” long, through the loops for the hanger.
  4. Turn the spider over and using needle-nose pliers, bend each wire out from the middle toward the edges of the body like spokes. Bend each wire up at edge of body. Bend each wire down at halfway point in wire.
  5. Hot glue the wires at the bottom hole to hold them in place.
  6. Hot glue wood bead head in place. Glue the black boa piece around bead. Glue red bead eyes in place.
  7. Paint the wires with the Licorice.
  8. Curl the end of the hanging wire using the needle-nose pliers.

Fuzzy Face Spider with crystal eyes:

  1. Cut Styrofoam ball in thirds. Set aside the middle section for another spider project.
  2. Hot glue the top and bottom of Styrofoam ball together to create an ellipse (oval) shape.
  3. Paint it with Licorice. Let dry.
  4. Paint over the dry Licorice with Black Extreme Glitter. Let dry.
  5. Measure wire and cut 4 pieces 9” long. Bend them all in half. Push all four bent wires up through the middle of the spider body until loops come out the top. Secure the end of another wire through the loops for the hanger.
  6. Turn the spider over and using needle-nose pliers, bend each wire out from the middle toward the edges of the body like spokes. Bend each wire up at edge of body. Bend each wire down at halfway point in wire.
  7. Hot glue the wires at the bottom hole to hold them in place.
  8. Hot glue pom-pom head in place. Glue some feather down to pom-pom randomly.
  9. Glue crystal bead eyes in place.
  10. Paint the wires with the Licorice.
  11. Curl the end of the hanging wire with the needle-nose pliers.

Fuzzy-face Spider with wiggle eyes:

  1. Cut Styrofoam ball in thirds. Set aside the top and bottom for another spider project.
  2. Paint the middle third of the Styrofoam ball with Licorice. Let dry.
  3. Paint over the dry Licorice with Black Extreme Glitter. Let dry.
  4. Measure wire and cut 4 pieces 9” long. Bend them all in half. Push all four bent wires up through the middle of the spider body until loops come out the top. Secure the end of another wire through the loops for the hanger
  5. Turn the spider over and using needle-nose pliers, bend each wire out from the middle toward the edges of the body like spokes. Bend each wire up at edge of body. Bend each wire down at halfway point in wire.
  6. Hot glue the wires at the bottom hole to hold them in place.
  7. Hot glue boa piece to body for head .
  8. Glue wiggle eyes in place.
  9. Paint the wires with the Licorice.
  10. Curl the hanging wire around a pencil or your finger for a whimsical hanger.
