Other Supplies

Styrofoam board, Permanent marker, Craft knife, Plastic spoon, Paper towels, Two (2) small plastic skulls, Paper printed with RIP, Silicone mold - ghosts, Halloween greenery

Instructions

  1. Using a craft knife cut the Styrofoam board into a tombstone shape. Make other shapes like ledges and arches.
  2. Use a marker to mark cracks on the Styrofoam.
  3. Glue the pieces together with Collage Clay. Next, smear Collage Clay all over the surface and sides of the Styrofoam. Add extra collage clay around the marked crack lines. Use the plastic spoon to add peaks and valleys. Blot with a paper towel to add texture.
  4. Heat a silver Mod Melt in the Mod Melter, fill the border and square mold with the mod melt. Cool and lift to remove. Make a bunch of pieces. Glue the pieces to the tombstone with the Mod Melter. This will create more texture on the tombstone and look like carvings. Make a few more designs with the flower or ornaments mold. Set them aside for use later. Note: you can use Mod Melts in any silicone mold.
  5. Using the Light Concrete and the short Painted Finishes brush, apply the concrete to the tombstone in a tapping fashion. While wet, add the dark concrete to areas you want to highlight. Allow to dry. Add the Black paint to the cracked areas.
  6. Place the craft mat over the printed RIP, Heat a silver Mod Melt in the Mod Melter. Trace over the letters with the Mod Melts. Cool and peel.
  7. Glue the letters and pieces from step 4 to the tombstone.
  8. Add faux moss to the tombstone. Begin with the darker color and top-coat with the lighter color. Use the short brush and tap the moss paint onto the areas where moss would naturally form. Add a small bit of water to the painted areas and move the tombstone around to create a drippy look.
  9. To make a wreath, add garland to the sides and back. Add a loop hanger to the back of the tombstone.
  • PROJECT TIP: Use dollar-store plastic tablecloths to protect your work surface when working on large messy projects.
