DIY Easter Decor - Easter Egg Wooden Blocks

• Folkart Paint Tools - Detail Painters #4156
• Styrofoam eggs, 2.5”
• Wood 2’x 4’ cut into 4” squares
• Small scrap piece of wood
• Sharp knife
• 220 grit sandpaper
• Compound miter saw
• Hot glue gun
• Glue sticks
• Painters tape

Instructions

1. Cut the 2 x 4 into five 4” squares and sand all the edges to a smooth finish.
2. Mix equal parts White and Key West to create a light blue. Paint the wood blocks with the mixed paint.
3. Once the paint has dried, sand the edges to create a distressed look.
4. With a small piece of scrap wood, lightly dip an edge into White and drag along the painted blocks.
5. Cut the foam eggs in half.
6. Zig Zag Dot Egg: Basecoat with Caribbean. Paint the zig zag with Pink Eraser. Using the end of a paint brush, add Bright Yellow dots.
7. Dipped Egg: Tape off half the egg. Paint the bottom half with Bright Yellow. When the paint is dry, retape the egg and paint the top half with Pink Eraser.
8. Striped Egg: Tape off the center and paint the ends with Green Machine. Mix equal parts Green Machine and White, paint the center of the egg. Paint small stripes with Key West.
9. Mini Polka Dot Egg: Basecoat with Light Pink. When the paint is dry, add polka dots with White using the end of the brush handle.
10. Large Polka Dot egg: Basecoat with Tropic Orange. With a spouncer add Light Pink polka dots.
11. Stencil the words on the blocks using Black.
12. Add hot glue to the wood blocks first where you want to attach the egg. Allow it to cool slightly before adhering the egg. This prevents the glue from melting too much of the Styrofoam.
