Other Supplies

Old book, Craft knife, Old belt with buckle, Coordinating papers, Hot glue gun, Hot glue, Straight edge ruler, Scissors, Pencil, Laser photocopies

Instructions

  1. Basecoat the inside and outside cover of the book Licorice. Allow to dry. Determine the opening on the front of your book. Mark with the pencil and ruler.
  2. Cut out the opening with a craft knife and the straight edged ruler. Once you get though the cover, use the opening as a template and trace onto the first page.
  3. Open up cover and begin cutting through several pages at a time with the craft knife and the straight-edged ruler. Continue the process until you are good about the depth of your opening.
  4. Open pages to the first page that was not cut. Mod Podge a pattern paper to it.
  5. Trace the book onto the back of coordinating paper and cut out. Cut the opening out of the paper that matches the book opening.
  6. Mod Podge paper to the front of the book.
  7. Measure the book’s depth. Cut the belt along with the buckle so that it goes from the front of the book to the back. Leave enough length on the belt on both ends to glue to the front and back of book. Glue in place with hot glue.
  8. Add whatever details you’d like inside the opening such as an object, picture in a small frame, or a mirror; the ideas are endless!
