Other Supplies
Painters tape
1” Flat brush
#6 flat brush
2-9”x3/8” dowel rods
White Sculpey polymer clay
Walnut Hollow Basswood Country Round
Wood glue

Instructions

  1. Basecoat the wood with Parchment, leaving the edge raw wood.
  2. Tape off 1” vertical stripes and paint with Coffee Latte.  Paint a light coat so the paint has a transparent look. Allow to dry.
  3. Tape off 1” horizontal stripes and repeat the painting technique with Coffee Latte.
  4. Tape off thin vertical stripes 1/8” from Coffee Latte. Paint with Apple Red. Repeat the same process with the horizontal lines.
  5. Tape off thin vertical stripes 1/8” from the Apple Red stripe. Paint with Licorice. Repeat the same steps with the horizontal stripes.
  6. Using some clay, shape into a 1”x 2” rectangle. Cut the ends diagonally to create the shape for the end of the arrows. Using a butter knife, draw the lines in to the clay as shown. Repeat the steps to create the other side.
  7. Take a piece of clay and mold it into a 2” x 2” triangle. Create the hole for the dowel rod to fit into once it is baked. Bake the pieces of clay following the manufacturer’s instructions.
  8. When the clay is baked, glue the pieces to the dowel rod as shown. Paint the entire arrow with Licorice. When the paint is dry, take a dry stencil brush and Pueblo and lightly brush onto the arrow.
  9. Glue the arrows to the plaque.
