Donna Dewberry is a self taught artist who grew up with a mother that encouraged her crafting. In fact Donna and her Mother used to sell various good on the side of the road. The One Stroke Painting method was developed when Donna had to fill an order for several thousand pieces of painted tin ware.

To date there are more than 6000 Certified One Stroke Instructors world wide and in more than 15 countries. Several of which have started businesses of their own revolving around One Stroke painting. Donna has made more than 100 books and videos and has her own show on PBS and soon to be WHDO as well as appearing regularly on Home Shopping Network.

Other Supplies
Wood magazine box sanded smooth with wood "feet" glued on

Instructions

  1. Basecoat box all over with Wicker White.
  2. Tape off stripes with stencil tape before painting. This will keep them straight. Remove and discard tape while paint is wet.
  3. Double Load ¾” flat brush with Floating Medium and Turner Yellow. Paint vertical stripes the width of brush, all the way around box. Let dry.
  4. Double load #12 flat brush with Lipstick Red and Turner Yellow. Tip yellow edge of brush in Wicker White. Paint tulip blossoms on end and sides of box as shown, keeping the light side of the brush on the outside of petals.
  5. Double load #12 flat brush with Thicket and Turner Yellow. Paint basic long leaf strokes up from the bottom of the box. Slide on chisel edge of brush loaded with green to paint calyx and stems of flowers.
  6. Double load #12 flat brush with Turner Yellow and Wicker White. Paint wings of the butterfly: wings that are behind, paint with Turner Yellow edge out; wings that are in front, paint Wicker White edge out.
  7. Add wing details with Script Liner brush loaded with Turner Yellow.
  8. Thin Thicket with a little water on Script Liner. Paint butterfly body and feelers.
