I have always found comfort and happiness when I was busy designing and creating. I have many interests and talents and often I am torn when deciding which art medium to work creatively in. Decorative painting is my first love; however, I also enjoy stenciling, jewelry making, sewing, crochet, needlework of all kinds, cooking, card making, faux finishes, decorating and gardening. Working in the craft and hobby industry for many years, I have enjoyed the pleasures of traveling, teaching, and sharing with others basic crafting how-tos! Currently, I am employed as the Marketing Education Director at Plaid. My career journey to this day, is still allowing me the gift of sharing with others the joys of crafting and finding their creative spirits! I hope that our creative paths may cross one day. Until then... happy creating!

Instructions

Surface Preparation: Wipe off the flower pot and saucer with a paper towel.

Painting Instructions:

  1. Colorbook paint/basecoat paint the following areas: Rim of Flower Pot and Saucer – Wicker White Bottom of Saucer - Licorice Flower Pot – Parisian Pink. Allow to dry and reapply a second coat if necessary.
  2. Apply thin masking tape randomly around the base of the flower pot. Moisten a household sponge with water, squeeze to remove excess and dab the moist sponge into Bright Baby Pink. Dab the paint filled sponge on a paper towel then dab color onto the exposed areas of the flower pot. Let dry and remove tape.
  3. To paint daisies, load the #12 Flat brush with Wicker White. Apply pressure to the brush using the entire width of the brush to create each petal; leave a circular space in the middle for the flower center. Load the #12 Flat brush with Parisian Pink; paint the centers of the daisies. Add thin veins to each flower petal using the #2 script liner brush loaded with thinned Apple Orchard.
  4. Load the #12 Flat brush with Fresh Foliage; paint the stems using the chisel edge of the brush.
  5. For leaves, double load the #12 Flat brush with Fresh Foliage and Apple Orchard. Add a touch of Wicker White to the Apple Orchard side of the brush, blend on the palette and paint a leaf on either side of the stem. Set the brush down at the base of the leaf at an angle, press, pull and lift up to a chisel edge to slide the brush to a point to complete each leaf.
  6. Thin Licorice to an inky consistency and freely outline the daisy centers, the petals, stems, and leaves, and add a center vein to each leaf.
  7. Add Wicker White dots to the center of each daisy.
  8. Polka dots – Add Black polka dots around the rim of the flower pot and along the top edge of the saucer using the handle end of the 3/4" brush.
  9. Don’t forget to sign your name. Enjoy!
