FolkArt Stencils Family Trophy

By: Chris Myer Williams

Chris Myer Williams
I have always found comfort and happiness when I was busy designing and creating. I have many interests and talents and often I am torn when deciding which art medium to work creatively in. Decorative painting is my first love; however, I also enjoy stenciling, jewelry making, sewing, crochet, needlework of all kinds, cooking, card making, faux finishes, decorating and gardening. Working in the craft and hobby industry for many years, I have enjoyed the pleasures of traveling, teaching, and sharing with others basic crafting how-tos! Currently, I am employed as the Marketing Education Director at Plaid. My career journey to this day, is still allowing me the gift of sharing with others the joys of crafting and finding their creative spirits! I hope that our creative paths may cross one day. Until then... happy creating!
Give your family the trophy it deserves! Or better yet, create it yourself!

Instructions

  1. Wash ceramic trophy with warm soapy water. Rinse well and dry thoroughly.
  2. Moisten paper towel with rubbing alcohol and wipe entire surface to remove any excess dirt, grease or soap film. Allow to dry.
  3. Using stencil tape, mask off a rectangle shape. Paint the interior of the rectangle Calypso Sky. Remove the tape while paint is still wet. If paint has dried, you may need to score along the tape line using a craft knife before pulling the tape up.
  4. When painted rectangle is dry, position each letter to spell out the family name and stencil Aqua. Allow to dry.
  5. Position the cameo head stencil in the center and stencil Calypso Sky. I also added a small leaf design (a portion of one of the designs) on either side of the cameo stencil. Allow to dry.
  6. Embellish the trophy further with color by painted bands around the base as well as the pair of handles using desired colors. Allow to dry.
  7. Allow to air dry 21 days or back to cure following manufacturer’s suggested instructions.
