Dino T-shirts

I have always loved to draw and paint but I didn't really throw myself into it until after I had my first son.  I wanted to be a stay at home mom and at the same time be able to decorate the new home we had just purchased. I taught myself how to use power tools and began to build furniture which I would paint and sometimes sell.  What was once a hobby became a new part-time career which I feel so blessed to be able to do.

FolkArt ® Fabric™ Paint - Brush On - Pure Orange
Item #4408
Finally, a fabric paint that isn't stiff! FolkArt Fabric paint is specially formulated to absorb into fabric -- so it feels softer and flexes with the fabric without flaking off. Perhaps best of all, the colors are highly pigmented which means they look great on dark fabrics. FolkArt Fabric paint is permanent on textiles, once dry, painted fabrics can be machine washed in cold water.

Other Supplies
2 white kid t-shirts
Bubble wrap
Small puzzle pieces
Shelving paper
Large Spouncer®
Masking tape
Dinosaur stencil

Instructions

  1. For the blue dinosaur, apply Coastal Blue to the bubble wrap using the large Spouncer. Center the dino stencil and apply the painted side of the bubble wrap to stencil. Allow to dry. To fill in the rest of the stencil, lightly paint over the bubble wrap pattern but not too much. You want to make sure you can still see the bubble wrap pattern.
  2. Cut out a rectangle from the shelf paper just enough to cover the dinosaur. Adhere to the t-shirt over the dino--this will form the square in the middle. Depending on the size of the t-shirt, tape off another retangle around the dinosaur, but make it crooked.
  3. Take the puzzle pieces and stick them to the sticky side of the shelf paper. Once you have a large enough area to go on the inside of the large taped off rectangle on t- shirt, apply Asphaltum to puzzle pieces with large Spouncer and apply to t-shirt. Allow to dry. Go back and lightly stencil on top of puzzle shapes.
  4. Allow to dry and then remove all tape and shelving paper.
  5. For the orange shirt, repet the same steps for the blue dino but instead of using the bubble wrap for the dino you will use the puzzle pieces and Pure Orange. For the frame going around the orange dino use the bubble wrap. The size of the frame will vary because of the size of the t-shirt.
