I’m the proud mother of three wonderful children and a silly and cute grandson named Sammy. I’ve been a designer and crafter with Plaid for 15 years. My love of crafting took off when I was 14 and won a “Best in Show” ribbon at the Orange County Fair for one of my oil paintings. Since that time, I’ve been crafting up a storm! I love Mod Podge and everything it can do - there is hardly a project out there that doesn’t deserve a little Mod Podge. I hope to pass my knowledge onto you and wish you much success in your decoupaging endeavors.

Instructions

Glass

  1. Wash and dry all glassware before painting.
  2. Mask off a 1 1/2" stripe in the center of the glass.   Paint stripe Folk Art Enamels Gold. Remove tape immediately and re apply after paint dries.  Apply a total of three coats.
  3. Apply Folk Art Enamels Glitter Gold a total of three coats, changing tape after each coat.  Let dry.
  4. Using a small Spouncer, apply dots of color to glass.  Gently drag bristles of the paint brush through the paint so the dot looks a bit "hairy".  View photo for example.
  5. Let dry 21 days to cure.

Plate

  1. Clean and dry all glassware before painting.
  2. Dip Spouncer into Aqua paint.  Apply paint to the back side of the large plate.  Gently drag bristles of the paint brush through the wet Aqua paint so the dot applied with the Spouncer looks a bit "hairy".  View photo for example.
  3. Measure halfway up the plate to find the center and mask off with tape.
  4. Using the masking tape, mask off even sized vertical stripes on lower half of the plate.
  5. Apply Folk Art Enamels Gold Glitter to every other stripe on the backside of the plate.  Remove tape immediately and let dry completely.
  6. Apply two additional coats of the Folk Art Enamels Gold Glitter, removing tape between coats.  Let dry.
  7. Paint over glitter with three coats of Folk Art Enamels Gold, following the rules above for drying.
  8. Reapply tape across top of stripes and apply Folk Art Enamels Wicker White to the entire bottom half of the plate.
  9. Cure for 21 days before using.

Large Plate

  3. Using photo for placement, apply all colorful dots as above.  Let dry completely.
  4. With the 3/4" masking tape, mask off a 1/2" stripe around the plate's edge, about 1/2" in from the edge.
  5. Paint stripe on backside of plate with the Folk Art Enamels Gold Glitter.  Apply three coats of glitter, letting each coat dry completely before applying another.  Remove tape immediately after painting each coat and apply new tape before re-painting.
  6. Paint over the glitter with the Metallic gold paint.  A few coats may again be necessary.
  7. Using a large Spouncer, apply Folk Art Enamel Wicker White over entire surface on the backside of the plate.  Let dry and apply a second coat if necessary.
  8. Let dry 21 days to cure before using.
