Chalkboard Party Tray

Julie Lewis
Julie Lewis was destined to be an artist…at least that was what she was told from Kindergarten on. Born outside of Cleveland, Ohio, she was blessed to have been given an incredible art education all through her school years and from her creative and talented parents. Growing up in a world where every day brought some new creative adventure, it was no surprise that she went on to graduate from the Cleveland Institute of Art with a B.F.A. in graphic design. Her professional life included working in many fields from industrial advertising to American Greetings. Most gratifying was working as a designer for the largest craft company, Plaid Enterprises in Georgia where she now resides. She paints and creates felt soft sculptures inspired by said paintings and now sells them through her shop STELLALOLA on Etsy. She is inspired by many things around her…most importantly, a wonderful family, an insanely happy German Shepherd and one stoic Alaskan Malamut.
Run a play for a successful football party with this chalkboard tray.

Martha Stewart Crafts ® 2oz Erasable Liquid Chalk, White
Item #33554
Erasable Liquid Chalk is more durable and long-lasting than regular chalk. Applied like paint, it doesn’t smudge and washes away with a damp sponge, leaving no shadow. A convenient foam pouncer makes stenciling and silkscreening quick and easy. For best results, use it on top of Martha Stewart Crafts Multi-Surface Chalkboard Paint that has been conditioned by lightly rubbing chalk over the surface.

Other Supplies
Wood tray
Flat brush ½”
Water basin
Paper towels
Foam plates

  1. Wipe tray free of any dirt or dust.
  2. Apply Classroom Green chalkboard paint to inside bottom of tray. Let dry thoroughly before applying additional coats.
  3. Condition the chalkboard finish by rubbing side of chalk over the surface and then wiping with a paper towel.
  4. Cut apart alphabet screens to acquire the letters needed for your phrases.
  5. Space the letters where desired and tape to hold.
  6. Remove the backing from first letter and replace. Apply Erasable Liquid Chalk very lightly through screen. (Daub the applicator on a paper towel to remove as much paint as possible before applying through screen). Remove screen and wash immediately to prevent screen from clogging.
  7. Repeat process until all the letters are applied.
