DIY One Stencil, Three Ways -- Home Decor Pillows You

DIY One Stencil, Three Ways -- Home Decor Pillows You'll Want to Create!

Have you ever just fallen in love with a design and want to use it over and over?  Today's blog post is totally an example of that happening.  We have fallen in love with Plaid's large painting stencil, Damask.

We all love using decorative pillows in our homes, right?  And let's face it, pillows are easy to create even if you are not a seamstress.  There are so many "blank" canvas, twill or cotton sheeting pillows on the market just waiting for a creative soul like you to decorate!

Take a look at a quick shot of this living space ... pretty attractive, right?  However a comfy, decorative pillow sure would make this vignette cozy!   Don't you think?

A big comfy pillow soften the lines of the upholstered chair right?  But still something is missing ....

Plaid's FolkArt Large Painting Stencil - Damask which measures 8.5" x 9.5" would be perfect for this pillow top!

Let's take a look at three different pillows created using the same stencil and look at the difference a little paint color substitutions make .....

This Folkloric style pillow uses FolkArt Multi-Surface Paints:  Apple Red, Pure Orange, Yellow Ochre, Citrus Green, Aqua, Look At Me Blue, Vintage White and also incorporates the use of the Folkloric Peel & Stick stencil.  To recreate this pillow, instructions can be found here.

Following the trend on denim both in fashion as well as home decor, this decorated pillow will definitely fit the bill!  Don't you love the painted background treatment?

To create this denim stenciled pillow, you'll need FolkArt Multi-Surface Vintage White and FolkArt Navy Blue as well as two additional stencils:  FolkArt Debbie's Floral and FolkArt ScrollInstructions can be found here to recreate this pillow.

And our third pillow is a simple, yet very classic, study of black and white using the Damask stencil solo with FolkArt Multi-Surface Licorice or Pure Black!  Don't you love it?

Here's another look at this classic look using FolkArt Home Decor Chalk Tuscan Red creating a pillow that fits in with the 2015 color of the year trend!  Instructions can be found here to create this classic pillow.

Unsure where to begin?  Never stenciled before?  Want to learn everything to be able to create a stenciled pillow?  Look no further than this blog post.  I promise you will learn where to begin .... what types of surfaces can be stenciled, what tools to use, what paints to use, how to properly load your stenciling tool, how to take care of your stenciling supplies, and how to care for your completed project!  Check it out here!

One last look at all three stenciled designs ... one stencil .... variety of paint colors ... three different looks!  And of course, we could continue the variety by adding color blocked backgrounds, stripes, or using just portions of the stencil design.  Once your creative hat is in place, you too, can come up with many creative uses for one stencil!
