Penelope the Piano Pumpkin
By: Valerie Pafford
Category: Craft Painting
Products Used:
FolkArt Paint
Stencils or Stamps
Extreme Glitter
I am a piano teacher who enjoys creating and adapting various craft media into music-themed gifts and decorations.
I used an artificial white pumpkin and painted bass clefs for the eyes, a treble clef for the nose, and piano keys for the mouth/teeth. I made a hair-bow using music-themed, black and red ribbons. The black and red paint is regular Folk-Art, followed with two coats of Extreme Glitter. The white paint is Folk Art Metallic White Pearl. I intended to stencil music notes for hair, but I couldn't produce a clean stencil image due to the curves and porous surface of the pumpkin. It's obvious that I'm not a trained artist, so painting all the notes for hair by free-hand would have been extremely time-consuming for me. (PLEASE NOTE: I purchased the Simply Stamps set of 30 Foam Stampers 58870 specifically for the two music note stamps, to stamp the hair on the pumpkin, but they stamp the notes out BACKWARDS!)
