Preparation
1.Basecoat entire gourd with multi-loaded Asphaltum, English Mustard, and a touch of Taffy, using a 1” stencil brush. Pick up Licorice as well for bottom half. Let dry.
2.Sketch on Pattern.
3.Basecoat gourd above where hat brim will be (just above the eyes) with Licorice. Let dry.

Paint the Design
General Turkey Areas:
Refer to photo of project.
1.Using inky paint and a rake brush, streak Dioxazine Purple, Light Periwinkle, and Burnt Sienna on chest area.
2.In same manner, add Barnyard Red to cheek areas.
3.Stripe wings, using the rake brush with Burnt Umber and Taffy.
4.Paint comma stroke “feathers” with Taffy.

Beak:
1.Basecoat with Taffy.
2.Shade with Medium Yellow. Re-shade with Burnt Sienna.
3.Paint detail with Licorice.
4.Highlight with Taffy.

Eyes:
1.Basecoat with Taffy.
2.Float irises with Medium Yellow tipped in Burnt Sienna.
3.Paint pupils with Licorice. Highlight with Taffy.
4.Float on top of eyelids with Light Periwinkle.
5.Add strokes to indicate feathers around bottom of eyes with Taffy.
6.Paint eyelashes with Licorice.

Wattle:
1.Create wattle by dribbling hot glue from top of beak downward in an irregular “wattle” shape. Let dry (it dries very quickly). This will create a dimensional look.
2.Basecoat with Barnyard Red.
3.Shade with Raspberry Wine.
4.Highlight with Red Light.

Apple & Pear:
1.Create an apple shape and a pear shape where wing tips meet with hot glue, like you created the wattle.
2.Basecoat apple with Red Light. Shade with Raspberry Wine. Highlight with Taffy.
3.Basecoat the pear with Medium Yellow. Shade with Burnt Sienna. Highlight with Taffy.
4.Paint stems with Asphaltum.
5.Paint leaves with double loaded Green Forest and Taffy.

Cornucopia:
1.Paint the extra neck of a gourd with Burnt Umber, English Mustard, and Taffy, using the rake brush. Refer to photo of project.

Finish
1.When dry, spray turkey (gourd) and cornucopia (extra gourd neck) with acrylic sealer.
2.Hat: Using pattern, cut a hat brim from black felt. Slip it over the top of the gourd to the bottom of the Licorice area. Glue burlap ribbon around gourd right above hat. Make a buckle shape with hot glue (as you did the wattle) at center front of burlap ribbon band. Refer to photo of project.
3.Stuff the cornucopia with Spanish moss, then glue fall floral and fruit picks inside. Hot glue cornucopia to lower front of turkey as shown in photo of project.
