- Clean the surface of the plate with a lint-free paper towel dampened with rubbing alcohol. This will remove all traces of oil. Let dry.
- Using graphite paper under the pattern, transfer pattern using medium pressure of pen or pencil as you trace all of the lines.
- "Story book color" all of the main areas with the #10 flat brush, referring to the photo. Add stripes, dots, package bows and other embellishing lines such as stitches, buttonholes, etc. with liner brush.
- Attach a tip pen to the Engine Red bottle and write "Merry Christmas" as indicated on the pattern.
- With the #6 flat brush, stroke on the holly leaf border. Add leaf veins with white using a liner brush. Turn the brush over and with the wood end, dip into a puddle of Engine Red and dot the holly berries in clusters of three.
- Let the paint cure according to directions on the bottle.
This plate is to be used for decorative purposes only. To make it functional, place a clear, plastic plate on top of the painting to serve food.
