Julie Lewis
Julie Lewis was destined to be an artist…at least that was what she was told from Kindergarten on. Born outside of Cleveland, Ohio, she was blessed to have been given an incredible art education all through her school years and from her creative and talented parents. Growing up in a world where every day brought some new creative adventure, it was no surprise that she went on to graduate from the Cleveland Institute of Art with a B.F.A. in graphic design. Her professional life included working in many fields from industrial advertising to American Greetings. Most gratifying was working as a designer for the largest craft company, Plaid Enterprises in Georgia where she now resides. She paints and creates felt soft sculptures inspired by said paintings and now sells them through her shop STELLALOLA on Etsy. She is inspired by many things around her…most importantly, a wonderful family, an insanely happy German Shepherd and one stoic Alaskan Malamut.

  1. Lay photo copies image side up on wax paper. Refer to bottle instructions and apply a coat of medium to images. Carefully lift and place medium side down onto canvases. Lightly smooth out any excess medium and let cure 24 hours.

  2. Dampen paper of image with sponge. Lightly use a circular motion and start to remove paper from canvases. Let dry slightly and repeat process until all paper is removed.

  3. Brush Mod Podge® Antique Matte onto front of frames and lay down newspaper. Place a piece of wax paper over newsprint and use squeegee to smooth out. Wrap corners of frame and smooth with Matte. Let dry at tleast 20 minutes, then seal with Matte.

  4. Refer to crackle bottle and apply medium over newspaper. Cracks will appear as it dries.

  5. Brush Licorice over dried crackle medium and wipe with soft cloth to define cracks.

  6. Step 6 Create Vintage White dots with spouncer. Use small spouncer to create two dots side by side in Licorice within each dot. Use liner brush to paint two converging lines from dots into a point. Fill to create heart. Use end of paintbrush dipped in paint to create dots around heart. Apply Gold Glitter Dimensional Magic to heart prints.

  7. Drill small hole in wood circles and paint Bright Red. Write words of choice onto circles with marker. Apply Clear Dimensional Magic over circle.

  8. Paint sides of canvases Soft Apple and Sky Blue. Paint opposite color stripes with liner brush.

  9. Tape off stripe on one frame as shown and paint Bright Red. Write pet name with marker.

  10. Insert eye screws into bottom of canvases. Attach wood circles with jump rings. Hinge two frames together and glue canvases to center of each frame to finish.
