Julie Lewis
Julie Lewis was destined to be an artist…at least that was what she was told from Kindergarten on. Born outside of Cleveland, Ohio, she was blessed to have been given an incredible art education all through her school years and from her creative and talented parents. Growing up in a world where every day brought some new creative adventure, it was no surprise that she went on to graduate from the Cleveland Institute of Art with a B.F.A. in graphic design. Her professional life included working in many fields from industrial advertising to American Greetings. Most gratifying was working as a designer for the largest craft company, Plaid Enterprises in Georgia where she now resides. She paints and creates felt soft sculptures inspired by said paintings and now sells them through her shop STELLALOLA on Etsy. She is inspired by many things around her…most importantly, a wonderful family, an insanely happy German Shepherd and one stoic Alaskan Malamut.
An elegant scroll takes a modern turn with a fresh color palette to create this unique clock.

  1. Measure and find center of wood plate. You can trace the inner circle onto paper, fold in half then in half again and cut off the very tip of point. Open circle and that is your center. Drill a hole big enough to accommodate clock movement post.

  2. Base coat inside of plate Soft Apple and outer rim Pure Gold. Let dry.

  3. Apply Crackle Medium over Pure Gold rim in a slip slap motion. Let dry.

  4. Apply Aqua over Crackle medium in same manner. Cracks will appear as paint dries.

  5. Stencil tile to center of plate blending Aqua, Ice Blue, Pure Gold and Lipstick Red. Paint accent lines with liner brush in Pure Gold.

  6. Divide outer rim into twelve sections as in a clock face. Tape off diamonds as shown and paint Lipstick Red.

  7. Stencil numbers with Liquid Leaf. Create Ice Blue dots between diamonds by dipping opposite end of paintbrush in Ice Blue paint.

  8. Insert clock movement by referring to package instructions.
