Instructions

  1. Go to your local craft store to fine the product Martha Stewart Crafts Christmas Icon Stencil Set. 1. Optionally, you can add washi tape embellishments to the bags and boxes before the decoupage process.
  2. Pick out the cardinal stencil from the Martha Stewart Christmas Stencil Setand place on the center of a paper doily.
  3. Put a small amount of red paint on a pallet. Dip the stencil brush into the paint and then swirl it around on a clean pallet space to distribute the paint. Dab the brush on a clean paper towel to remove any excess paint.
  4. Dab into the space on the stencil and fill in with red. Repeat if needed.
  5. Use the Martha Stewart Crafts Multi-Surface Matte Decoupage to adhere the cardinal doily to the paper gift bag. Simply, paint a layer of decoupage onto the bag and lay the doily in desired position. Seal with a coat of decoupage.
  6. Paint a coat of Martha Stewart Crafts Decoupage Gloss onto the jewelry box. Press the Martha Stewart embossed or metallic doily in place and seal with a coat of gloss decoupage.
  7. Use the decoupage medium to add embossed embellishments and flat back crystals to the doilies and boxes as well to add extra sparkle.
Project Tip: Matte decoupage is great for matte surfaces like paper or natural wood because it blends in. Likewise, Gloss decoupage keeps surfaces extra shiny like foil.
