Donna Dewberry
|
Painting Needlecrafting
Donna Dewberry is a self-taught artist whose mother encouraged crafting. The One Stroke Painting method was developed when Donna had to fill an order for several thousand pieces of painted tinware. She enlisted the help of family and friends, taught them to paint and the rest is history.
Plaid discovered Donna at a craft show and partnered with her to publish books and Reusable Teaching Guides. The line quickly expanded with tools, brushes, videos and kits.
Donna's true passion is teaching. She developed an education program to teach people how to paint and how to teach others. To date there are more than 6,000 Certified One Stroke Instructors worldwide in more than 15 countries.
Donna has created more than 100 books and videos, has her own show on PBS, and regularly appears on the Home Shopping Network.
Donna lives with her soul-mate/husband Marc in Clermont, FL. They have six surviving children and soon to be 11 grandchildren.

Mary Engelbreit
|
Needlecrafting Stamping
Mary Engelbreit estimates that she has completed more than 5,000 illustrations since beginning her professional career. Her art springs from real life, and real life—she is quick to point out—just keeps happening. With the help of her staff, Mary goes to great lengths to make certain her artwork is reproduced as faithfully to her original work as possible.
Today, Mary Engelbreit Studios and The Mary Engelbreit Online Store are headquartered in Mary’s hometown, St. Louis, Missouri. Thousands of national and international retailers sell Mary Engelbreit products. It’s an amazing degree of success for any company, but even more remarkable considering that it all began with a single-minded young girl who decided at age 11 that she was going to be an artist. And while Mary Engelbreit Studios has grown into a global licensing and retail business, that same girl still sits at its core, grown up now, but drawing her pictures with the same sense of wonder, imagination, and enthusiasm.

Priscilla Hauser
|
Painting
With "I can teach you to paint" as her motto, First Lady of Decorative Painting Priscilla Hauser has inspired thousands of decorative painters since taking her first tole painting class in the early 1960s.
In the beginning, Priscilla's path was quite different. "Mother and dad wouldn't pay for art school, so that's how I wound up in dental hygiene," she admits. Her interest in art prevailed, and she decided to learn how to paint. Her neighbors admired her work, and encouraged her to begin teaching classes in her garage. Classes outgrew her garage, and she opened Priscilla's Little Red Tole House.
In 1972, Priscilla gathered 21 people in Tulsa, and founded the National Society of Tole & Decorative Painting (today, the Society of Decorative Painting).
A world renowned teacher, author and decorative painter, Priscilla has published many books with Plaid, and is currently their spokeswoman for FolkArt. | | | |
