The Perfect Planter DIYs

The Perfect Planter DIYs

Decorative plants are all the rage these days, but if you'd like to stand out from the rest (like I know you do), these DIY planters are the perfect opportunity. We're taking you from strawberries to crystals, because your decor should be as unique as you are! Trust me, it isn't every day you stumble across planters as cool as these guys.

DIY Painted Strawberry Herb Planter
Find the tutorial on A Charming Project

There's something about the vibrant color of strawberries that brightens my day, and this strawberry looks juicy enough to eat, thanks to the rich nature of Martha Stewart Craft Paint!

Cement Pineapple Planter
Find the tutorial on Hobby Design

South Korean blogger Hobby Design is a total guru when it comes to crafting with cement. Example A: this pineapple planter. Add another dimension by using Mod Podge Outdoor to decoupage your favorite crafting paper on some (or all!) of the triangle sections around the pineapple. After you've mastered this craft, you'll never think of cement in the same way again.

Everything is better with glitter! Now the sunlight will play off of your planters beautifully. Need help keeping track of which plant is which? Never fear! FolkArt Home Decor Chalk is the perfect little helper, letting you label your planters so you'll never mix them up again. And, of course, using Mod Podge will ensure they keep their sparkle forever. (But we know you knew that already!)

Sand Pots
Find the tutorial on Martha Stewart

Whether you're into an old-world or more modern look, this sandy finish using Martha's Vintage Decor Paint brings class to every planter in every space. I could definitely see it hanging out on my patio or in the sun room! Thanks again, Martha!

Crystal-Encrusted Planter
Find the tutorial on Etsy

I think we could all use a little more crystal in our lives, don't you? This crystal-encrusted planter has the perfect energy to match that of our green oxygen-bearing friends. We can thank Delta Sobo Glue for really holding it together with this one! (Pun intended.)

Faux Copper Pots
Find the tutorial on Curbly

These faux metal planters are simple and sleek—not to mention easy peasy (we're talking five-minutes easy)! And those colors together? A match made in heaven. As always, Mod Podge would be a great substitute for the contact paper if you have another craft paper you're dying to use instead.

Hand-Sewn Stenciled Planters
Find the post on Handmade Charlotte

Alright, so we just had to throw this one in there even though there isn't an actual tutorial connected to it, because it's so stinking cute and would be an easy project to mimic. Sarah Lodato, a master stitcher and crafter in our own Atlanta, Ga, won second runner-up for this fabric planter using FolkArt Handmade Charlotte Stencils in the Family Craft Challenge we held two years ago. If you love this planter as much as we do, all you have to do is stick a potted plant inside two pieces of felt sewn together, and stencil on your favorite FolkArt design.

Enjoy your potted friends!
