Outdoor Family Games for Spring

Outdoor Family Games for Spring

What April showers?! We keep looking up at the sky waiting for the raindrops to start, but all we see are golden rays and glorious hues of blues. My family has been taking full advantage of this gift from Mother Nature and getting outside as much as we possibly can - t
here's nothing like sunshine to shake off the last bit of cabin fever left over from winter! Here are a few ideas of how to take family fun outside the house and breathe fresh air into playtime.

Ahhh! We are screaming over this Cardboard Monster Bean Bag Toss via Missy Balance. What I love about this project is that it can be so many different things. Use it as a bean bag party game, an adorably scary photobooth set, or just as fun backyard decor. All you need are cardboard and your favorite colors of FolkArt Home Decor Chalk and you've got an outdoor craft that can be packed up and used over and over again.

I have a tiny obsession for larger-than-life toys. These DIY Yard Dice via The Pinning Mama make games easier for little ones who may not yet have the motor skills to play with the smaller versions. I love how colorful these are - but I also think that the simplicity of classic black and white could be super striking. Whether you free-hand the dots or use stencils, Plaid Paint Brush sets are your best bet for variety.

Five, six... pick up sticks! Pickup Sticks (these via Better Homes and Gardens) are an absolute classic when it comes to kids activities and never fail to fill my heart with nostalgia. Paint yours however you want - just make sure there are an even number of sticks with each color (to make the game fair). To make sure your sticks stand up against outside play, I'd suggest using Folk Art Outdoor Acrylic Paints.

It doesn't get much simpler than this Outdoor Color Matching Game via Two-Daloo. Whether it be stones or pinecones - I love the idea of taking something in nature, adding a little color, and then using it for play! Once again, Folk Art Outdoor Acrylics will provide a super durable finish, protecting your new favorite games from the wear and tear of the great outdoors.

Now get out and play!
