A family quilt handed down for generations. A Christmas stocking
stitched by your mother. A favorite Thanksgiving tablecloth. Many
of the keepsakes we hold closest to our hearts have been stitched
by the hands of a loved one. And for more than 130 years, Bucilla
has been helping them do so.
In 1996, Bucilla joined the Plaid family of products and continues
to produce the same quality needlecraft products that made Bucilla
one of the leading names in the industry.
Bucilla offers a wide variety of kits in various stitchery
mediums, including needlepoint, counted and stamped cross-stitch,
crewel and embroidery, and felt appliqué. Kits include the pattern,
embroidery floss or yarn, and fabric with which to complete the
project. From seasonal to religious to everyday designs, Bucilla
stitchery kits offer a range of beautiful designs just waiting to
be created:
Needlepoint
Needlepoint is stitched on canvas that is printed with the design.
The design is stitched with wool yarn using a continental stitch.
When the design is complete, no canvas is exposed. Needlepoint designs
can be made into framed pictures, Christmas stockings, pillows,
and more!
Counted
and Stamped Cross-Stitch
Counted
cross-stitch is a needlecraft usually done on an evenweave fabric
like Aida cloth or linen. To create the design, you follow a chart
by creating a cross-stitch (x) of embroidery floss that corresponds
to the appropriate color symbol on the design chart. Counted cross-stitch
projects can be made into framed samplers and pictures, wall hangings,
napkins, baby bibs, and other beautiful creations.
Stamped
cross-stitch kits have the pattern already printed on the fabric.
To complete the project, simply follow the stamped pattern and the
chart. Stamped cross-stitch kits usually include projects such as
tablecloths, pillowcases, dresser scarves, baby decor, and bedspreads.
Crewel
Crewel is worked on linen that is stamped with the outline
of the design. To complete the design, follow the chart and fill
in the area with wool yarn or embroidery floss using a satin stitch.
Crewel works can be made into beautiful framed pieces, as well as
intricate Christmas stockings.
Felt
Stockings, tree skirts, and ornaments can all be made with
felt. Felt appliqué is a unique, fun, and modern needlecraft. Using
felt, sequins, and floss you can create some fantastic and original
Christmas creations that can be used year after year.
