Antiqued Green Bench

I'm a busy mother of five--four girls and a boy--ages 17 to 6. Luckily I
have horrible insomnia, so I can paint at night! I have been married for
24 years to an incredible man. (In case you're trying to do the math--yes,
I got married when I was 5.) This is the first little business I have ever
attempted, and although it is way out of my comfort zone to try and sell
something, I am absolutely loving it!

  • FolkArt ® Acrylic Colors - Lime Green, 2 oz.
  • FolkArt ® Painting Stencils - Large - Simply Scroll
  • FolkArt ® Artists Pigments™ - Pure Black, 2 oz.
  • FolkArt ® Mediums - Textile Medium, 2 oz.

Other Supplies
Primer
Paint brushes
Sandpaper
Painters tape
Burlap
Quilt batting
Staple gun and staples
Spray adhesive

Instructions

  1. Sand the bench to remove factory finish and then prime. 

  2. When dry, paint with Lime Green. 

  3. When dry,  mix four parts water and one part Pure Black and use this to “glaze” bench.   

  4. Cut piece of burlap large enough to cover top of bench. 

  5. Using painters tape, attach stencil to center of burlap and stencil with Pure Black paint mixed with Textile Medium according to instructions on bottle. 

  6. Cut quilt batting to fit top of bench seat and attach with spray adhesive.  When stencil is dry, wrap around seat over quilt batting, being careful to center stencil on seat.  Adhere to seat using staple gun and staples.
